Cohoes head coach Jeff Huneau looks exasperated on the sidelines during Saturday's game but the Tigers never trailed.

All of the Tigers pointed to their big loss at Lansingburgh on Feb. 17, a game the Knights won 79-54, as the turning point in Cohoes' season.

"Since the ‘Burgh game, we’ve been focused and guys have been ready to practice and giving great effort," Huneau said. "Sometimes it takes getting your tail kicked like that that to get together and get going."

Nelson-Gill floats the ball towards the rim in Saturday's game. He scored the first six points of the third quarter to give the Tigers a cushion after Tamarac's Steve Hunt hit a buzzer-beater just before halftime to draw the Bengals within three.

Cohoes attempted 40 foul shots while Tamarac went to the line eight times.

"I’m sorry, but I was just not in love with the way that game was officiated," Tamarac head coach Eric Medved said. "I really feel like that has a lot to do with it. I’ve never said that before to the media."

Although they couldn't quite win the Wasaren League title this season or advance to the Section II Class B championship game, those 10 seniors put the Bengals on the map and have drawn many talented underclassmen to the program.

The first game was an upset special, too. Schuylerville junior forward Tyler Barber connected on a deep 3-pointer with 26 seconds remaining to lift the Black Horses (12-10) to a big 43-42 upset over the third-seeded Tigers.

"It’s an amazing feeling right now," said Barber of his only basket of the game. "We’ve had somewhat of a rocky season, but it’s what you do in sectionals that you remember."
