Royals Stick It To 'Em

Lansingburgh Royals starter Dan Carey (Lansingburgh/RPI) goes by the nickname 'stick'. The gangly righthander was once so skinny that his arms looked just like sticks - and the nickname stuck.
But Carey pitched six strong innings to lead the Royals Mack team to a 11-2 victory over Fayetteville-Manlius in the opening round of the 2008 NYS Connie Mack Tournament at Knickerbacker Park.

Brian Beuary had four hits and Caleb Gleason drove in three runs for Lansingburgh. Eric Kennedy had only one hit - an infield single - but he got on base three times and scored each time.

The Royals keep it going tomorrow against league rival Clifton Park - a team that beat the Royals twice during the regular season. Should the Royals win - they play Sorensco at 6 p.m. at Knick Park - which promises to be a great game. But the Royals need first to solve Clifton Park.
